Canine Friends Pet Therapy ("CFPT") is an Incorporated Society and is required to maintain a register of its members. We collect and use personal information in order to:
· assess and identify suitable pet therapy volunteers and their dogs;
· manage membership records and renewals;
· communicate with members and volunteers;
· organise visits and activities; and
· meet our legal obligations.
If a new applicant chooses not to provide the required information, CFPT will be unable to assess the new applicant or their dog for pet therapy.
CFPT keeps the new applicant’s or member’s information safe by storing it in a centralised database and only allows authorised members to access it.
Members, other than those with authorised administration access, can view fellow member’s details but it will only be their name, dog’s name and region.
CFPT keeps the new applicant’s or member’s information for three months after the member’s membership has ceased, at which point, CFPT archives the record and stores it for a further seven years. Archived records older than seven years will be deleted from our data storage.
The member has the right to ask for a copy of any personal information CFPT holds about the member, and to ask for it to be corrected if the member thinks it is wrong. If the member would like to ask for a copy of their information, or to have it corrected, please contact CFPT at:
