At Canine Friends reading visits, carefully selected pet therapy dogs and their volunteer handlers work alongside schools and libraries to support children in a calm, positive way. Children read aloud to a friendly, non‑judgemental dog in a quiet, designated space, helping to build confidence, reduce anxiety, and make reading more enjoyable. Dogs involved in these visits are well‑trained, calm, and comfortable around children, and sessions are short and supervised to ensure the wellbeing of both the children and the dogs.
